The Department of Paediatric Hematology Oncology is functional since April 2017 at the institute. The department caters to patients with blood diseases and cancers. We are involved in the diagnosis and management of childhood cancers, thalassemias, hemophilias, rare bleeding disorders, aplastic anemia, nutritional anemias, primary immune deficiencies and other rare haemolytic anemias and inherited bone marrow failure syndromes. We have been catering to patients from Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Uttarakhand, J&K as well as states in North East India. At of this date, we are following up more than 450 patients with hemophilia and allied inherited coagulopathies and 240 patients with thalassemic hemoglobinopathies. We register 100-120 children with cancer each year and follow up more than 500 children with cancer. We also have a bone marrow transplantation facility that caters to both autologous and allogeneic transplantation.

Tuesdays: Primary Immune Deficiency, Aplastic anaemia, Post BMT
Wednesdays: Hemophilia/ ITP/ Coagulation
Thursdays: Nutritional anaemia
Friday: Survivor clinic (Last Friday of each month- Survivor meet Jeene ki Jid)
Saturday: Thrombosis clinic

1. FNB – National Board Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology (2-year program)
This is a National Board of Examinations (NBE)-accredited fellowship that provides comprehensive training in pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplantation.
Eligibility: MD/DNB in Pediatrics (as per NBE criteria).

2. Fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplantation (1-year program)
This institutional fellowship offers specialized hands-on training in pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, including donor selection, conditioning protocols, post-transplant care, and long-term follow-up.
Eligibility: MD/DNB in Pediatrics with training in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.

3. Short-Term Observership in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
Short-term observer programs (2–12 weeks) are available for pediatricians, postgraduates, and medical students seeking exposure to pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplantation services.

4. Observership for nurses, lab technicians and supportive care staff
Observership is offered for nurses, laboratory technicians, and supportive care staff to gain hands-on exposure in the care of children with hemophilia, thalassemia, and childhood cancers.The program emphasizes multidisciplinary teamwork, patient-centered care, and practical training in comprehensive management.
